Framing Rock plant the seedlings

If you happen to have a cold frame available, which can be used, but it is better to make a frame especially for your rock plant seedlings. If this is built against a fence or a wall, three meters wide and convenient, as all areas will be done on one side.

A band of half-board or frame "pony" frame with three to ten feet to fit, can be purchased complete, or both frame and sash may be home made. The first is easy to construct a one-inch boards, held inplace of light poles. The latter may be a light wooden frames covered with cloth protects plants, or cello glass, which is light,
easy to use, not fragile and perfect to keep moisture and keep the storms.

When the wings are hinged at the back of it with a hook out of the way when not wanted, it is easy to reach. The frame used for the launch of these types of plants from the standard six feet wide, but the cover apostasynorth instead of south, so as not to take, but to deflect the sun's rays.

In addition to the frame of glass or glass door cello, to maintain the storm, we will also need some form of shade, so necessary as the other. light wood frames, a size that will cover only one or both of the two sliding glass windows, can be easily performed by a two-inch strips, and covered with plaster lath normal with each other not only their width. Or, consider garden sculptureable to both shade and decoration.

Soil

Perfect drainage is also essential in the frames, as in the rock garden itself. Dig out six or eight inches of soil, and fill in with a layer of six inches of ashes or gravel, filled with a mixture of one third each of sand, peat, granulated sugar, and light garden soil. Then the top two inches of sand and half peat and half, and screened to separate fine. For lime-loving varieties, agricultural lime, which is closelyby a quarter or two to the bushel, may be added.

Sowing the seed

The seeds of many plants in natural rock in the ground in winter and early, almost before the snow melts in spring. They can be planted, so in autumn (late October or November), covered with leaves and left until March, when the bedding is removed in time for them to stand.

Others should be planted in spring as possible, so a full season of growingbefore their first winter, as they must be firmly anchored by their long roots to prevent "heaving out" in a climate where there is danger of frost and thaw alternating with a danger which are not exposed in their country
haunted.

One of the difficulties in growing alpine and rock plants from seed is that many of the varieties quickly lose their vitality. And 'better seed this for some time in advance for your order, so that they can be sent by the seed of a man orCollector fresh crop is available immediately. Some species must be sown as soon as possible after they are collected.

Directions, usually accompanied by the seeds must be carefully monitored. Several hours before you expect to sowing seed, the bed frame or to give a complete irrigation system. Garden water falls or some sort of irrigation system can be a smart decision.

If the soil is completely dry by the time you are ready to sow, a sprinkling of extra preparationbottom quarter of an inch or so deep, will allow the start of operations, and moisture from the soil beneath it will not be necessary for the water surface, while it is absolutely dry quickly and will not benefit from the moisture where it falls.

Most seeds are so small that they have those just out of sight, with fine sand. The smallest should be pressed only to the surface. Those of measurable dimensions must be covered to a depth of abouttheir thickness.

The soil should never be allowed to dry in reality, it should be noted that these plants dislike water on the soil surface, as did the infant stage in adulthood. And outdoor fountains are to be included in the rock garden, make sure that their functions are closely monitored.

Particular care should be taken to water plants only in the bright days, so the blade will have a chance to dry hisSera. The common American can is not suitable for sensitive aquatic plants, the oval English pattern, with a very fine mist and a long beak, allowing the application of water without falling a certain distance above the plants is better.
